Advertising group that canvasses for donations is not a registered charity
CALGARY, AB. Zenith Advertising Group, a company claiming to be a charity, has been collecting money door-to-door in Calgary recently.
The group calls itself the Canadian Fentanyl Prevention Society but it is an unregistered society that does not issue official donation receipts when it canvasses for donations.
The canvasser is in his early twenties, about 5 foot 8, and wears a fake black mustache.
When Calgarians purchase what he calls "chocolate bars," they receive two packages of wafers wrapped with counterfeit coupons and logos that local companies have not authorized.
News about the charity broke in Edmonton last December when a charity watchdog told CBC News that the society seeks door-to-door donations but has no background in health or addictions.
